Rock 'N' Roll Marathon Also Kicks Off Health and Fitness Expo ...

DENVER (CBS4) ? Thousands of runners hit the streets of downtown Denver Saturday for the Sports Authority Rock ?n? Roll Denver Marathon & ? Marathon.

Stages with live music were speckled along the route helping keep runners motivated.

CBS4 was a proud sponsor of the race and CBS4?s Tom Mustin participated in the popular race that included 15,000 runners from all 50 states and 20 countries.

The Rock ?n? Roll Marathon is a lot of fun but it?s also raising money for prostate cancer research.

There were also some runners there overcoming their own challenges.

?I?m on a mission to run 22 1/2 marathons this year to raise awareness for people with mobility issues,? runner Beth Deloria said. ?We have a campaign that says, ?Get Back Up Today.? I had a personal story myself actually being down for so long. I have a paralyzed ankle, and I finally found a way to get back to the passion of running.?

?It was fantastic, it was a good run, lots of energy, I think the bands helped out a lot,? runner Patrick Wren said. ?It worked out to have people cheer us on along the way.?

CBS4?s Greg Moody paid a visit the Colorado Convention Center where runners got ready at the Health and Fitness Expo.
